Itachi Uchiha is one of the most popular characters in anime history. He walked the darkest of the paths and kept all the blame on his shoulder, carrying the weight of the happiness of the entire village. No, ‘happiness’ wouldn’t be the word. Peace would be a better choice of word. Although he walked through the darkness, after learning the whole story, people cannot but love this humble Uchiha. So, why is that? Why a guy, who slaughtered his own clan gets so much love and respect? Here is why.
One of the main reason so many people love him is that unlike other Uchihas, Itachi was always humble. He never liked to show off his skills or tried to be proud of his skills. He was gentle with the younger and humble to the older/elder people.
whatever happens, Itachi never lost his calm. Whatever situation he was thrown into, he always kept his cool.
One of the main reasons people love him because we never saw him in a battle struggling against an opponent. It may sound a little weird, but it is true. Usually, people search for a character with good heart and good will and with strength and power. The closest characters they find with these criteria are the heroes. And I am quite sure I do not need to tell how much our heroes suffer to reach a certain level of his power to defeat the villain. Well, except Saitama the One Punch man of course.
Not to mention, heroes are not the coolest characters in the anime industry. But as for Itachi, we saw his coolest side from the very beginning. We saw him facing the upperclassmen in order to save his ‘comrades’ with ease at a young age.
Itachi was strong in visual prowess due to his unique Sharingan the Kekkei Genkai of the Uchiha clan. Especially Itachi had a unique visual Genjutsu called Tsukuyomi. In this Genjutsu, Itachi could manipulate the time at his own will.
Ninjutsu: Itachi was very efficient in Ninjutsu as well. He could use
Not to mention Itachi was skilled in taijutsu as well. But, he didn’t use it very often as he mostly relied on his Genjutsu and Ninjutsu. And obviously, his Mangekyou Sharingan gave him the opportunity to take his Taijutsu to a different level
Itachi could also use Yin and Yang release. He could also use his firestyle in various ways.
Itachi indeed was a formidable shinobi. He could face any enemy of his generation and most likely to defeat them most of the time. It creates an impression to rely upon and to believe him as a favorite character.
Itachi Shinden book of bright light
The Itachi Shinden was adapted in the 451 to 458 episodes of Naruto Shippuden. In this arc, we come to see the backstory of Itachi Uchiha. After the attack of nine tail, how he developed his philosophical and psychological journey.
Also, in this arc, we can see him fighting the Anbu Black Ops of foundation directly assigned to Danzo. When the Anbu team was hunting one of the hidden leaves ninjas, Shisui and Itachi encountered them.
Itachi Uchiha as a kid:
Everyone noticed kid Itachi due to his wisdom and exceptional ninjutsu skills. He was a prodigy of his generation. Not only he excelled his upper classmates in jutsu and battle, but also he was strategically wise. Itachi always cared for his family and friends. Itachi loved his brother Sasuke more than anything. He always looked after his little brother.
In the Itachi Shinden, we saw him in the ninja academy hanging with his friends. He often got kunai lessons from one of the prodigies born in Uchiha clan, Shisui. He learned those lessons from Shisui quickly and earned praise from Shisui.
Although he was a chunin, Itachi still had a feat of handling an Anbu with ease. This also shows his loyalty, judgment, and capability at that early age.
This may be a minor issue but still, it adds a jewel to the crown of this man.
Itachi became the captain of Anbu black ops when he was only 13. When he first came and join in the Anbu, all the other member did not take him warmly as he was very young. Later, Kakashi introduced him addressing him a genius. Kakashi also admitted that Itachi would be a greater shinobi than Kakashi himself.
Itachi Uchiha Hokage:
I know Itachi never became a Hokage. Rather he chose to walk down the darkest path in order to keep the peace and breaking out a civil war. Nevertheless, with philosophical depth and accurate judgment, Itachi had a way of thinking. He thought like a Hokage at a very young age. The third Hokage himself praised him able to think like a Hokage.
We do not see this type of depth in character very often. So, being able to think, as a Hokage at a very early age, is one of the reasons why people like Itachi Uchiha.
Even after death, when Kabuto reanimated Itachi, Itachi remained loyal to his village. Therefore, when he learned about the caster of that reanimated jutsu, he went to stop and undo the jutsu. Itachi used Izanagi on Kabuto and undone the forbidden jutsu.
Therefore, it is undoubtedly one of the reasons why people liked this legendary Uchiha.
Praised by several Hokage:
Itachi was truly a gifted shinobi praised by lord first, third, fifth, sixth Hokage. In fact the first Hokage Hashirama Senju
However, it might not be much big of a deal, but Itachi still had feats against 2 potential Hokage. We all know that Naruto was a kid and Kakashi was young too. But still, as they became the Hokage later he the fact remains the same.
And as we all know, one of the legendary sannin Orochimaru who was also nominated for the fourth Hokage title was defeated by Itachi with ease.
He definitely was not a reincarnation of Ashura or Indra, so there is no way he could get as strong as Madara. Obviously all the fuss about the author admitting Itachi being stronger than Madara is all made up by Itachi’s cancerous fandom. But, on the other hand, it was crystal clear that he died before he could reach his full potential.
With that being said, let us sum up all the point I made. And what do these have to do with Itachi’s popularity?
As I said earlier, Itachi was strong, good-hearted, self-sacrificial, calm, and gentle at the same time he was cool and badass. As you can see, he had almost everything that we love to see in a fictional character. There is no denying it.
And that is why, my dear friends, Uchiha Itachi is so loved.
The truth about Itachi
One of the main reasons why Itachi is so popular and loved all over the Naruto fandom is the truth about Itachi. At first, he was being the main reason for one of our main cast Sasuke’s suffering. However, later when the truth about itachi came to the light almost all of the viewers got shocked as well as they started liking the character. They started admiring the fact that the suffering that Itachi had to go through just to keep his village safe.
